SANITARY SYSTEM

The importance of sanitation systems.

Sanitation systems are crucial to buildings in terms of managing all types of water systems, both inside and outside the building, in a structured, user-friendly, and safe manner. Furthermore, they are important for building occupants by promoting good hygiene and a healthy living environment.

Therefore, the use of water or the management of wastewater, both inside and outside buildings, must take into account the design of a proper sanitation system that adheres to engineering and hygiene principles. This ensures efficient use and ease of maintenance throughout its lifespan.

How many types of sanitation systems are there?

According to international and Thai design standards, sanitation systems can be divided into 7 types:

1.   A water supply system, or tap water system, is the piping system used to transport clean water for use at various points within a building, such as water systems for bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, or fire extinguishing systems, etc.

2.   A sewage drainage system is a piping system that carries wastewater from toilets or urinals out of an area and into a wastewater treatment system before discharging it outside the building.

3.   A waste pipe system is a piping system that carries wastewater from other activities out of an area and into a wastewater treatment system before discharging it outside the building.

4.   A wastewater treatment system is a system used to treat water used within a building, bringing its various water quality parameters within specified standards before discharging it into the public drainage system.

5.   A vent system, or air duct, is a set of pipes installed in the drainage system to prevent vacuum buildup in the drainage pipes, allowing water to drain smoothly.

6.   A storm drain system is a pipe system that transports rainwater out of a building when it rains.

7.   An external drainage system refers to the drainage pipes surrounding a building, which transport water away from the building area into the public drainage system.
