The importance of a sanitation system
Sanitation system is necessary for buildings in managing any form of water inside and outside of the premises, for purposes of orderliness, convenience and safety. It is also important to residents of the building in terms of promoting good hygiene.
Making use of water supply and managing wastewater inside and outside of a building requires a proper sanitation system. Engineering and sanitation principles must be properly followed to ensure maximum efficiency and easy maintenance throughout the service life.
Types of sanitation system
Under the standards acceptable in Thailand and internationally, there are seven types of sanitation.
Cold water (tap water) pipe system, This system involves conveying clean water to different parts of the building, such as bathroom, kitchen, cleaning room, or fire extinguisher system inside the building.
Soiled water pipe system, It carries soiled water from toilets or bidets for treatment before the treated water is released out of the building.
Waste pipe system, The system brings wastewater from the building into the wastewater treatment system before the treated water is released out of the building.
Wastewater treatment system, The system involves the treatment of used water from the building so that the treated water has qualities that meet the standards before it is released into the public drainage system.
Ventilation or air pipe system, It is attached to the drainage system to prevent vacuum issues in drainage pipes and help alleviate the drainage.
Rainwater drainage system, The system conveys rainwater following downpours outside of the building.
External drainage system, This refers to the system of drainage pipes around the building which conveys water from the building into the public drainage system.
